Hopefully we are witnessing a true turnaround and the Raiders will soon start dominating again. But with all the talk about the improvement of the offense and concerns about the defense, I see very little written about what can potentially be the downfall of the team this year-special teams. on the positive Lechler is kicking the best he ever has and Seabass has become a touchback machine on kick-offs and hopefully has found his placekicking groove. But both our coverage team and return team have been nothing short of disastrous. Long returns by other teams and almost no returns by us have left us in some difficult field position situations and have helped the opposing teams get back into games. What do we have to do to break Carr or Higgins and what do we have to do to prevent long returns on the other side. when you are getting blown out time after time then special teams doesn't make a huge difference. But now that we are competitive again how we play on special teams can make a difference between winning and losing.
